Phase 7

In this phase of burnout there is hardly any contact with fellow human beings. Affected persons feel misunderstood by family, friends and acquaintances. Concern is understood as criticism. Hopelessness and disorientation become widespread. The use of addictive substances such as alcohol or medication is not uncommon at this stage.

Phase 8

Fear and apathy rule the emotional world.

Personal needs are no longer perceived, one feels worthless.

Phase 10

An inner emptiness spreads, one feels burnt out and powerless. A convulsive attempt is made to cope with this emotional state by seeking excessive occupation.

Phase 11

Affected persons no longer see any meaning in life. Indifference, hopelessness, exhaustion become widespread. At this stage, the burnout syndrome resembles a depression.

Phase 12

At this stage, those affected usually suffer a complete breakdown on a psychological and physical level, suicidal thoughts may occur. In these cases, it is important to seek medical help quickly!
