Blood purification tea, also known as purifying tea, is used in alternative medicine under the amption that it can purify the blood of hypothetical pollutants.[1][2]

Depending on the manufacturer, completely different parts of the plant are used to make blood purifying teas. Common herbs include blackthorn, spoonwort[3], nightshade[4], pansy[5], hackberry[5], stinging nettle[6], field horsetail[7], and birch.[6]

In scientific medical literature, the term "blood purification tea" is not used.[1] It is not possible to cleanse the blood of waste products with the help of tea. The human body disposes of toxins naturally through the liver and kidneys. However the use of blood purification teas is meant to stimulate these detoxification and elimination functions. Slag does not accumulate in the human body (a term used in metal processing). Here the term metabolites as products of metabolism would be more appropriate. Because most blood cleansing teas have a diuretic or laxative effect, there is a risk of habituation with prolonged use.

Also in other places on the Internet it is said that tea can do many things and is good for many things, but the blood is not purified. As well? But a good cup of tea is of course a fine thing!
