The Medical Clinic under the direction of Dr. med. Rudiger Feik comprises 84 beds including the intensive care unit. In the department's team, seven senior physicians, ten assistant physicians and three physician assistants work closely with the nursing staff to ensure that patients receive competent care at a high medical level.

Gastroenterology (gastrointestinal diseases)
Examination of the gastrointestinal tract, bile ducts and pancreas is virtually painless with video endoscopes. This also allows us to remove precancerous lesions in early stages with few complications.

Angiology (vascular medicine)
Circulatory disorders of the legs and arms as well as the abdominal aorta are diagnosed painlessly using the latest methods. Tumor diseases of various types can be comprehensively clarified on site using modern methods. Cardiology (heart disease)
Heart diseases can be examined with innovative methods such as ultrasound, CT or.
If, as in the case of a heart attack, interventions on the coronary vessels become necessary, there is close cooperation with the cardiologists at the Ortenau Klinikum in Lahr, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We are also particularly concerned with the treatment of diabetics (diabetes mellitus). Our team (see picture) of diabetologists, diabetes and nutritionists regularly conducts intensive and structured weekly training for affected patients.
An interdisciplinary palliative team with 10 employees from the fields of nursing, medicine, psychology, pastoral care, social work and physiotherapy has been working at Ortenau Klinikum Achern since 2007.
The team supports the wards in the holistic care of the dying and terminally ill. The goal is not only to provide optimal relief from pain and other distressing symptoms, but also to help patients and their families cope with and process illness and death.
The team works with outpatient and inpatient palliative care facilities (z.B.Bridge care, pallium, hospice groups, hospices, palliative care units, in particular the palliative care unit at the Oberkirch operating center) in the region together in order to also set the course for good palliative medical care for patients who can be discharged again.
