Bamberg – The very dynamic infection situation and the manifold infection protection measures make it necessary to channel the information needs of the people in the Bamberg region more strongly. That's why, starting Monday, the district's public health department and the city of Bamberg are offering these hotlines.

Due to the Corona pandemic, the Free State of Bavaria has again declared a state of disaster from 11. November proclaimed. Priority goal is to ensure health care after infection incidence multiplies.

"The extreme increase in incidence numbers is alarming and exceeds the capacities of our hospitals," explained Bamberg's mayor, Andreas Starke. There is not a single free intensive care bed left in the city and district of Bamberg. In hospitals, already scheduled surgeries are postponed to organize staff to care for corona patients. "Within a very short period of time, we are seeing absolute highs in seven-day incidence, in new infections, in active cases, and we are hearing the cries for help from medical professionals who feel that health care is at risk: This demands concrete action from us as those responsible for healthcare in the Bamberg region," said Deputy District Administrator Bruno Kellner in close coordination with District Administrator Johann Kalb.
The hospital traffic light is on red all over Bavaria, the disaster situation has been declared again. Bamberg health department also sounds the alarm. "There have not been as many new infections per week as currently since the beginning of the pandemic," said Second Mayor Jonas Glusenkamp.
