Espresso machine healthThe situation in the world and here in Germany related to the Corona virus outbreak affects each of us in different ways. We take this very seriously. The most important thing for us is to ensure the health of our employees and guests and to work with the rest of the community to prevent further spreading.

We closely follow the development and follow the guidelines and recommendations from the Ministry of Health. Therefore, after the initial closure of our stores, we are now able to reopen some stores to meet the needs of our guests, as well as to give our staff the opportunity to work.

From Thursday 08.04.In 2020, we will reopen isolated stores. This includes our Hamburg stores Barmbek, Gertigstrabe, Grindelhof, Gustav-Mahler-Platz, Lange Reihe, Mittelweg and Vorsetzen; our Berlin stores Chausseestrabe, Potsdamer Platz, Rathaus Steglitz and Schonhauser Allee; as well as our Balzac stores in Hamburg Eppendorfer Baum and Ottenser Hauptstrabe and the Frankfurt store in Schweizer Strabe.

Above all, the well-being and health of our guests and employees – therefore we will offer a smaller assortment and this exclusively "To Go". A maximum of two guests are allowed in our stores at the same time, so that the necessary distances can be perfectly respected. In addition, we ask our guests to pay only by card or app when possible.

We are looking forward to our guests, our colleagues and our coffee and hope that we will soon be able to reopen all other stores as well.

What certifications does your coffee have?

We have Single Origin, Single Estate and to some extent Direct Trade.

Single Estate:
The coffee comes from a single farm, so we know exactly where it was grown. Thus the way of the coffee bean up to the producer is comprehensible.

Single Origin:
The coffee comes from a specific region. The farmers in this area bring their harvest together and sell it through a cooperative, so that even the small farmers get a chance to get into the big market that is looking for quality.

Direct Trade:

– Espresso House or one of our representatives has visited the roastery. Trade takes place directly between farmers. Roastery without middlemen. – The coffee price is significantly higher than the Fairtrade and market price. The growing operation is long term. Profitably invested. The long term price fixing between farmers. Roastery provides financial security.

How the coffee is purchased?

Our coffee is purchased directly from the farm or cooperative to our roastery in Lanna. This means that there are no middlemen and no exporters or other big players take money away from the farmers. We negotiate directly with the cooperative or the farm. Set our prices for the long term.

Can I work at Espresso House during the summer vacations?

Can I do an internship at Espresso House?

The boss of each coffee shop decides himself if he offers internships there. Just go to the coffee shop where you want to do an internship and talk to the boss.

Can I apply by mail?

Unfortunately we can not consider applications by mail. All applications must be submitted through our website under "Work with us".

Can you work at Espresso House even if you don't speak German??

For most of our jobs you need to be able to communicate in German. But this is different from place to place. Should not prevent you from applying for a job with us.

Do I need to have certain experience if I want to work as a barista?

We rather think that you need the right setting. Knowledge can always be acquired and if we hire you, you can do training.

Can I do the barista training even if I don't work at Espresso House??

Unfortunately no. At the moment our trainings are only offered to Espresso House employees.

How old do I have to be to work at Espresso House?

To work as a barista, you must be at least 18 years old.

Why did my credit disappear in the app??

If your credit has disappeared, it's probably because you changed your phone number. Since your credit is tied to your phone number, the app can't load your actual Coffee Card number the next time you open it, but instead assigns you a new "blank" Coffee Card number. To get your old credit back, just change your coffee card number in the settings. But remember that you cannot merge the balance of two different Coffee Cards. If you need help merging your balance, or you can't change the Coffee Card number, contact us by email at [email protected] and enter your old or new credit card in it. new cell phone number.

Why are my offers not working?

There can be several reasons why an offer does not work. First, check that you have activated the offer via "Apply to next purchase" in your app. Also read carefully for which products the offer is valid and for which period of time. Also check if your phone connection is working if you want to use the offer. If you use Espresso House's WiFi, you must first accept the terms and conditions before the WiFi will work. If it still doesn't work, there may be something wrong with the offer – please contact us with a description of the error at [email protected]

Please note that an offer can only be redeemed if you also pay with the app.

Why is my balance not correct??

The most common cause of this is that the app has not had access to the internet since your last purchase and therefore has not been able to sync itself. Make sure your phone has internet access and start the app again. After restarting, the current balance will be loaded on your phone.

Why can't I load my Coffee Card??

You can always top up your app in a store directly at the cash desk.

With the credit card directly in the app: You have to register a credit card in the app to be able to select it when you want to charge an amount. This card can be a Visa or MasterCard, activated for international payments and internet purchases. It is possible that you have ended up in one of our internal security filters and therefore your app has been deactivated. Then it must be activated by [email protected] to be reactivated.

Is it safe to deposit my credit card?

Yes! Credit card data is not stored in the app itself – instead, it is sent via an encrypted link to a secure server that u. a. Is certified by Visa and MasterCard. Then when you load your Coffee Card with this credit card, we just send a reference ID to make the payment.

Why should I enter my e-mail address?

If you provide your email address, your coffee card and balance can be restored if you z. B. change your cell phone number. We can also notify you of important changes and you can participate in customer surveys

How to shop with it?

When you open the menu, you will see your coffee card balance and a bar code. If your balance is high enough, you can scan the bar code at the cash register to pay for it.
