TREATMENT OF EOSINOPHILIC GRANULOMA IN CATS WITH SICAL
Eosinophilic granuloma should be treated for 3 months in a cat.
The eosinophilic granuloma is a difficult disease to treat in cats. It can start with a small vesicle that breaks open, crusts over and then heals but comes back after some time. Since the cats are often itchy, they start scratching and everything gets much worse.
Although mostly eosinophilic granuloma is said, the disease can take very different forms:
– There is a variant of the disease in which an ulcer (eosinophilic ulcer) forms in the lip or in the oral mucosa. If the ulcer continues to grow, it can even change into a malignant skin tumor. Most often this does not hurt. Does not itch either. – Then there is a variant that is often located on the head, neck, abdomen or hind legs and is accompanied by severe itching (eosinophilic plaque). Here, the skin usually looks red and roughened. They are small wounds that quickly become covered with a viscous, yellowish white secretion and coalesce into a large, open, bleeding wound. – The third variant is the "real" eosinophilic granuloma. Here you can find reddish swellings or nodules, z.B. on the chin, lower lip or in the oral cavity. These cause severe pain, the cat salivates and will probably eventually eat less or nothing at all.
The eosinophilic granuloma complex is not contagious.
Not so much is known about the cause of this disease, but it is probably an autoimmune disease. In the first place, find out if there is a flea or food allergy. In case of allergy, increased eosinophilic granulocytes are produced. It becomes z.B. also investigates whether the disease is inherited, hormonal or psychological reasons play a role. However, often no cause is found (idiopathic).
Eosinophil granulocytes are a subgroup of white blood cells (leukocytes) and, like all white blood cells, are responsible for the immune defense system. The name comes from "eosin", a dye with which these granulocytes can be dyed purple in the laboratory. The eosinophilic granulocytes can harbor bacteria. Eat" tie remnants (phagocytize). You are z.B. in case of allergy, in case of worm infestation, in case of healing infection and in case of eosinophilic granuloma increased
So in case of suspicion of eosinophilic granuloma it is useful to examine the blood. But security offers only the skin biopsy (here a small sample is taken from the skin for a closer examination).
Conventional medicine treats with antibiotics (if the ulcers fester), cortisone (to suppress the allergic reaction), or interferon (also an immune-suppressing therapy). Sometimes hormones are used or surgery is performed. Surgery is usually pointless, as it can flare up in another place afterwards. Giving essential fatty acids and/or switching to raw feed can be helpful. One should be careful with the use of flea medicines (dripped into the neck) on these cats. This can trigger a violent reaction (a lot of itching).
Treatment of eosinophilic granuloma
Fighting an eosinophilic granuloma. Sical is a
good alternative For prednisolone or antibiotic treatment. The Sical formula stabilizes the immune system. This way the white blood cells support the immune system in the right way again. In this way, Sical ensures that the eosinophilic granuloma becomes smaller and eventually disappears. This is a slow process, so Sical should definitely be given for a minimum of 2-3 months. A longer treatment period also prevents the disease from coming back. Sical has No side effects, therefore it can be given in the long term, even for life.
