Beer inhibits inflammation and makes pounds fall off – German researchers found out. There is a catch, but a change is worthwhile.
Cabbage soup diet, interval fasting or FDH: If you want to lose weight, you may have already tried one or the other diet. What researchers have now discovered could put a whole new diet on the map: The beer diet!
Alcohol-free beer in the fight against liver cancer
Scientists from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, in collaboration with the University of Vienna, found that non-alcoholic beer has some positive effects on our health. On the one hand, a substance in hops is said to prevent weight gain. The magic ingredient is called xanthohumol. It also inhibits fatty degeneration of the liver caused by obesity or poor diet. The researchers led by Professor Claus Hellerbrand of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg were even able to prove that xanthohumol is supposed to kill liver cancer cells, reported the portal wize.life already some time ago.
Hops also contain bitter acids, which are converted to iso-alpha acids by the beer brewing process. Together with xanthohumol, these also have a positive effect on fat and sugar metabolism. Together inhibit the both active substances also inhibit inflammatory processes in the bodyorper. Hellerbrand's research group found that even low concentrations of xanthohumol and iso-alpha acids block inflammation in liver and blood cells.
For their research results, the Austrian and German researchers were awarded the European Foundation for Alcohol Research and the European Brewery Convention prize of 60,000 euros.000 euros. Next, they would like to start another project in which they want to find out, whether diabetes or other types of cancer can also be combated with the combination of active ingredients.

Prevent obesity with non-alcoholic beer
In a statement from the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, project leader Hellerbrand explains: "It is (. ) it is conceivable that through the consumption of alcohol-free beer or other food and beverages containing hops, such as hop lemonade or hop tea to achieve a positive effect. Especially for the treatment or prevention of liver damage caused by obesity, xanthohumol and iso-alpha acids seem very promising."
So if you want to reach for a bottle of beer every day now, you can do so without a guilty conscience – as long as it's non-alcoholic beer. With normal beer, the alcohol contained in the beer cancels out all the positive effects on health.
Lose weight with non-alcoholic beer?
